The train runs rarely, the bus even more rarely. And after 7 p.m., the only hope of getting there is a donkey that happens to be passing by, or you have to walk after all. Three hours and 300 meters of altitude later you are there. Alright, you can also come by car or take a cab, but that would be boring...

In any case, the journey is worth it! Because there is not only the largest mountain lake in North Tyrol – Lake Obernberg, but also three almost-three-thousand-meter peaks, which are all called Tribulaun and want to be climbed (not by Viktor, too much fear). In addition, there are other mountains, valleys, meadows and paths, occasionally crossed by streams. And there are only 400 inhabitants (yes, we love small villages, see Polopos).

But the landscape is most strongly characterized by thousands of landslide hills, so-called toma hills, which were formed by a landslide 8000 years ago. This also gave rise to Lake Obernberg.

Since the village is almost at the head of the valley, there is no through traffic, but there are cowbells, as far as the ear can hear. And if you need some variety (even more variety?), you can hike over the Portjoch to Italy in one day. There you'll find even more Tyrol, mountains and valleys.

Next project: Brandenburg

Obernberg am Brenner ist einen Zug und einen Bus von Innsbruck entfernt.
