ただいま (只今) [tàdáímáꜜ]. Japanese for: "I am Home". Said by a person coming back home.

The images in this collection were taken between 2011 and 2016, mainly in Tokyo as well as Kanagawa and Mie prefectures. At that time Viktor was in Japan rather often to train, work or eat Matsusaka beef.

While taking pictures, we quickly realized that the Japanese have managed to preserve, at least in part, something that Europeans seem to have completely lost after World War II: urban coziness. Whether it's due to the homely chaos of above-ground wiring or the green oases of tranquility hidden behind brick walls, in any case, the buildings and structures in Japan seem extremely alive, even those built after 1950.

Ultimately, Tadaima is an attempt to capture this liveliness in pictures.
